Microsoft Sings C# at XML DevCon 2000

Microsoft has unleashed a heavyweight contender to compete against Sun's Java. The new language, dubbed C# (C Sharp) will feature everything that Java has, and then some. It will include features that make it easy for developers to program in XML, the key to Microsoft's new .NET strategy. The Redmond giant's latest creation will hit alpha at this July's Professional Developers Conference in Florida, where Microsoft will distribute it in the Visual Studio 7 package to attendees. Company officials say it is unrelated to Cool, the set of C++ extensions that will directly compete with Java. For more information visit Microsoft for more information.
