Apple Sues Over Online Posting Of Trade Secrets

Apple Computer [NASDAQ:AAPL] has swung its legal cannons
into operation against an unnamed person who has apparently posted
details of the vendor's top secret new machines on the Internet.

The complaint, filed in the Superior Court for Santa Clara County,
Calif., seeks an injunction against further disclosure of Apple's
trade secrets as well as monetary damages.

According to the lawsuit, the unknown person - or persons - posted
images of the dual-processor Power Mac G4 on to the Web back in
February, way ahead of the July 19 launch.

The situation was compounded, Apple said, by details of the Apple Pro
mouse being posted on the Web in late June - again, ahead of the July
19 launch.

The lawsuit - despite the fact that it has been posted against an
unknown individual - is likely to send a ripple of resentment through
the Apple Mac community, which has remained loyal to the Mac despite
some rough rides over the years.

Many Mac fan sites and user information sites are on the Web, and
virtually all have been speculating on the plans that Steve Jobs has
for the computer company he helped found, now that he has returned.

Apple Computer's Web site is at http://www.apple.com.
