Microsoft recently introduced a compatibility hold to prevent certain people from upgrading to Windows 11. Safeguard ID 37820326 was put in place after an issue was discovered that saw some Edge users losing data they had stored in Internet Explorer 11.

The company has now addressed the problem meaning that IE users no longer need to take the extra step of importing data to Edge before upgrading to Windows 11.

Microsoft launches new driver blocking feature to boost security in Windows

Microsoft is giving Windows users an easy way to avoid drivers that are known to contain vulnerabilities, helping to improve security.

The company is adding a vulnerable driver blocklist option to Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) which will help to ensure that only trusted drivers can be installed. The new security measure is available to users of Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2016 on systems with hypervisor-protected code integrity (HVCI) enabled, and Windows 10 in S Mode.

This is a preview of the update that will be officially released on April's Patch Tuesday, and it is designed for Windows 10 20H2, Windows 10 21H1 and Windows 10 21H2. What can you expect in this update? In addition to the arrival of search highlights -- with slightly different looks for enterprise users and ordinary consumers -- there are numerous bug fixes, and changes to the Action Center.

There is a lot of attention focused on Windows 11 and the update releases for it, but we shouldn't forget that there are millions of people running Windows 10. Far from being a dead operating system, Microsoft is not only still producing updates, but has an active Insider program for Windows 10 that continues to see the arrival of new features and options.

The latest example of this comes with the release of the KB5011543 update which brings Windows 11's search highlight feature to Windows 10. The update includes a number of other important changes and additions, and takes the operating system up to Windows 10 21H2 Build 19044.1618.

Microsoft suspends sales of new products and services in Russia

It’s hard to imagine that Vladimir Putin expected quite the response his invasion of Ukraine generated. In addition to hard hitting sanctions, Russia has seen its media censored across the world, sporting events pulled, and hacktivist collective Anonymous has been knocking many state-sponsored sites offline, and much more.

Tech firms have also shown their anger towards Russia in a number of ways, and now Microsoft -- which previously revealed what it was doing to help the people of Ukraine -- has taken the decision to suspend all new sales over there.
