COMDEX 99: Diskeeper 5.0 for Windows 2000

Functioning as a background service, Diskeeper 5.0 allows the user to continue using the PC while the defragmentation process occurs. Revolutionary new features such as Frag Guard fragmentation technology and automatic network defrag scheduling make Diskeeper a
great option for small businesses and large networks. It also features
an analyze option which allows the user to see which directories and files
are most fragmented, along with a color coded chart of the drive and its
fragmentation.

The auto-scheduling feature available in the Server version of
this software and can be used to defrag any number of selected
domains or workstations. An automated schedule can be easily changed for any specific computer. The workstation version of Diskeeper also has a scheduling option, with 4
different criterions for the times and days it defragments any number
of selected drives on the system.

Diskeeper 5.0 has many security features, which ensure that if the
system were to crash, all files would be protected. It does so by moving
files one at a time and only deleting them once the new location is secured.
A feature dubbed "Set-It and Forget-It" allows the defragmentation to
occur in the background of the working environment. If a user is accessing a
file exclusively, Diskeeper recognizes that and does not touch it. If a
user is accessing a file that is not exclusive, Diskeeper can move it
without any problems or errors. Any other anomalies detected by the
program also cause it to skip the file, thus avoiding issues with
moving open files. It has multiple options for defragmentation of Windows NT
systems including boot defrag which allows otherwise impossible
relocation of directories on an NT system.

Users may notice an increase of between 18% and 80% in file access time
and load time after running Diskeeper according to Executive Software. Diskeeper does so by rearranging the Master File Table and Paging File. It also supports FAT 16 and FAT 32
as well as NTFS and 64-bit computing and encrypted files.

The upcoming version of Diskeeper will be compatible with Windows NT 4, and
Windows 9x for the first time. The default defragmentation program
included with Windows 2000 is an older version of Diskeeper, however users can
