Transmeta to Use Phoenix Technologies BIOS
Beginning more than two years ago, Transmeta began developing a relationship with Phoenix Technologies, the world wide leader in system enabling software. Stating that "Phoenix is the unquestioned leader in mobile BIOS and power management...[and they] willingly worked within our secrecy constraints," Transmeta announced today that the Crusoe processor would run on PhoenixBIOS, developed by Phoenix Technologies, specifically for the new Mobile Internet Computing class of PCs slated to arrive later this year. Currently, software developed by Phoenix Technologies is sold in over 70 million computers each year, as well as embedded systems and Internet appliances. The Crusoe processor is scheduled to be released mid-year, and you can read more about Transmeta and the Crusoe chip on BetaNews.Com
