iTraceYou.com E-mail Tracking System Unveiled
iTraceYou.com is the name of a new, and free, Web-based
service that allows users of almost any e-mail service to know the
exact date and time their messages were opened.
The service is the brainchild of Andre Lessa and Marcos Machado, two
systems analysts, who started work on their Web service project
in August.
Launching the new service, Machado said that iTraceYou.com is unique
in the e-mail marketplace.
"For the first time since the Internet's inception, e-mail can be
traced by an automatic system that is able to deliver your message
direct to the recipient's mailbox, making sure that once the message
is opened, you are notified in a quick and safe way," he said.
To use the service, users first register their details on the firm's
Web site, choosing whether to send their message via the iTraceYou.com
Web site, or directly from their own e-mail application, such as
Microsoft Outlook Express.
Although the system makes use of iTraceYou.com's servers, the firm
says the service does not need any software downloads.
After creating an account on iTraceYou.com, the firm says that the
user knows whether e-mail sent from their address was opened by
the recipients.
The notifications alerting that e-mail was opened are e-mailed
directly to users, who can continue to use their regular Webmail
accounts, such as Hotmail and Yahoo, their regular Internet service
providers (ISPs), or any other kind of Webmails and mailboxes.
Andre Lessa, the firm's business director, said that the goal of the
new service has been to create an easy-to-use system.
"We only used technologies which are already available on the
Internet. Now, users can trace e-mail receipt from their current
e-mail system without the need to install any additional software
in their system," he said,
